It’s midsummer here in Sweden* and I packed bentoboxes to bring on a celebratory picknick.
Most of the food is Swedish food that’s somewhat typical to have at parties like midsummer. The upper box contains brussel sprouts, a hardboiled egg, locally grown ripe and luscious strawberries (drooool!), chili cheese bits on picks instead of meatballs for [...]

Salmon roe and avocado slices on sushi rice (decorated with some spring onion and black sesame), soy fishy on top of wakame salad, a pickled ginger rose, and 2 inarizushi as dessert.
The BF gets the same and some leftover teriyaki salmon (smeared with a miso mixture before baking, which is REALLY delicious!) on a salad [...]

I had some nice, traditional bento ingredients prepared since yesterday…
…but then I had absolutely NO appetite for them at all.
I’ll post a healthy, proper bento another day, promise!
This one contains crispy fishsticks in a tortilla wrap with salad, pickles, aioli and ketchup, salad hearts, a few curly fries leftover from dinner, some grapes and a [...]

Salmon teriyaki with vegetable stirfry and steamed rice, tomato and pea sprouts decoration.
I make my teriyaki sauce myself with Mirin and Japanese soysauce in about equal amounts, a spoonful of honey (I think orange blossom honey would be phantastic! I have to get me some to try) and fresh crushed garlic and ginger. Instead of [...]

Something simple, but nice. The rice mix is the same as before, but a new batch - I ran out of jasmine rice to mix it with, therefore this batch is darker.

This week’s theme in Bentochallenge was “Stars”:
Wholewheat pasta salad with tuna, corn and jalapeños, carrot stars, a babybel cheese, tortilla star cutouts (idea from kopiikat) and some konpeitou because they also look like little stars to me.
Wholewheat pasta salad:
Cook pasta al dente and rinse cold.
In a bowl, combine dripped-off tuna from a can, sweet corn, [...]

Totoro has come to my little windowsill garden and made things sprout! So I celebrated him in a Bento.
Salmon Teriyaki with rice and carrot salad; Totoro scene cut from nori.
I spent entirely too much time doing Nori-scissor cutouts for this one.
I re-did the nori once because it shriveled up from the moisture in the rice [...]

Upper tier: Teriyaki salmon (yummm), chinese cabbage salad with a lemon-mustard dressing, radish and cherry tomato flowers as decoration
Lower tier: Rice with a stencilled black sesame smiley face :)
Quick and simple leftover bento today (I try to make more food in the evenings to take the leftovers as bento).
