Not as colourful today, but rather comfort food.
Tom Yum soup with prawns (I actually didn’t have the proper chili paste so it’s not as red as it should be), rice, some veggie wontons and a few sugar snap peas and a cherry tomato for decoration.

Hey, I have two questions:
Can you maybe give me the recipe for tom yum soup? I love that taste and hotness but I never thought to cook it myself before I saw it here.
And how do you prepare your wontons? Make your own dough or not? And which method of heating/cooking has been most succesful for you? I’ve experimented a bit with making ‘em but they never really turn out right.
Looks delish by the way. Nice!
Hey Nina,
I don’t have my own recipe but this one is pretty nice: http://www.shiokfood.com/notes/archives/000019.html
I make my own prawn stock though, and spice it up with that.
For convenience’s sake I buy frozen wonton wrappers from time to time, but I have made them myself before as well. The dough is just flour and very little cold water. It should be rather compact.
Steaming works best for me. When I cooked the first batch in the soup they got a little soggy, but the ones in my bento were lightly pre-steamed and then dropped into the hot soup and microwaved on high power for another minute, which seemed to work well.
